Scrappin' in DC

The weekend started with a long Thursday night. My original expectations were that my mom and grandma would arrive around 10. I made sure to have all my stuff packed and by the door only to find out that they were running behind. Actually it wasn't much of a surprise. We then expected them to arrive around 11 and they ended up getting there by 11:30. Not too bad I guess, except the plan was to be up at 5:30 the next morning in order to be on the road at 6am. Since this was my gma's first time seeing our new place, we showed her around and ended up talking about the place for a little while. We didn't make it to bed till about 12:30.
I was so excited about the trip that I woke up around 5 am. Finally at 5:20 I decided to just get up. I figured we always seem to run behind schedule, so it wouldn't hurt to get up a few minutes early. Surprisingly enough we were all in the car and heading down the road at 5:55... so off to a good start! The drive went really well, we had plenty to talk about and catch up on and before we knew it we were only 30 miles away from Jackie's house. There were many stop lights the last 30 miles of the drive so it took longer than what it felt like it should have. As we came to be only 10 miles away we were warned by the GPS that there was traffic congestion up ahead. Well there sure was! We came to a complete stop and didn't move at all for the first 10-15 minutes. As we sat there we were only 8 miles away from our destination and we were barley crawling along... it was horrible. Come to find out, it was just a traffic jam. The 2 lanes on our side of the highway spread out into 4 to pay a toll but then go down to 1 lane to go over the bridge... it was crazy! We finally made it and then we had to unpack. It really is amazing at just how much stuff we had jammed in that van, and only for 3 people.
And then the fun began! We scrapbooked, held and played with the new baby and gossiped about all the crazy stuff going on in each others lives. Later that night after we all went to bed, her husband returned home. He came home to a house full of women! Saturday was fun and everyone had to give Josh a hard time about being the only man around.. and sitting at the scrapbooking table. Of course when word of this got around to the guys at home he got his fair share of teasing. In the end he was able to get most of his studying done even while helping with the kids and putting up with all the women in his house.
We all were able to get a lot of pages done. Jackie really made out and received quiet the collection of stuff from my mother and I. I'm sure more will be coming her way next time we get together. Its always great to clean out your stash of stuff and let other people take what they want. What you may choose you don't want other people can use with their own stuff. So that was great.
Unfortunately the weekend had to come to an end. Sunday around lunch time we had to pack it all up and head out.
I wasn't able to finish last years book like I had hoped, but as I went through my photos I also realized just how much I have to do for last years. So considering that, I did get a lot done this weekend. I was able to get halfway through Thanksgiving... which is turning out to be many pages due to everything we did that weekend!
I haven't had a chance to load the pics from the weekend to the comp yet... hopefully that will be soon so I can post some of them.
