Where is that noise coming from?
This morning my alarm goes off just like every other day, and just like every other day I turned it off and rolled over wanting another 2 hours of sleep but at least getting another 5 min. When I realized it had been 10 min I get out of bed and drag myself into the bathroom to start getting ready. As I leave the bedroom into the hallway I hear a beeping noise... like another alarm going off. As I head towards the living room it gets louder, so at this point I know its not just a loud alarm from our downstairs neighbors. Figuring its Jason's phone alarm going off that he left in the living room from the night before I holler back into the bedroom telling him to go turn it off. I proceed into the bathroom to get ready and listen to him fumble around in the living room. I can tell he found his phone, but the alarm is still going off as he tells me its not his phone. We then realized it must be the travel alarm clock that is packed in a box! I stayed in the bathroom because at this point I don't have time to go search for a little alarm clock that is in one of the many boxes sitting in the dining room. All I could picture in my mind is Jason standing in front of the mound of boxes wondering where to start. It didn't seem to take him long to find it. I guess considering its making noise you just have to narrow it down to the box making noise and then dig through it. Oh the many joys of living out of boxes!
While on the subject of the many joys of living out of boxes, here's another story :
No matter how organized and planned out you think you are, there is always something that you forget. For the few weeks before the move, as I packed away all our possessions, I came up with plans for what we were going to do when I eventually had to pack all our pots and pans, plates and bowls and silverware. I decided to make some easy to reheat meals, more like casserole/skillet dinners that we were able to store in zip lock bags and then reheat on the paper plates we were living off of for the last week before the move. I thought what a great idea. I can pack it all and not have to worry about needing to make dinners or waste money on eating out. That all went fine and dandy until the week after the move, which was not really thought of. Since we were going back and forth between the old and new apartment for about a week after the official move, meals were up in the air and we probably ate out more that week than we normally do in a month. After getting the gas turned on at the new place giving us hot water to wash dishes, we figured no problem now we can start having normal meals again. So last night was finally going to be our first real meal in the new apartment. No more eating out or ordering in or having sandwiches... a real home cooked meal. So as Jason went out grocery shopping, I stayed home to clean the pots and pans and dishes that I knew we'd need. I managed to get half the pots and pans cleaned, under the sink cleaned out so I could put our cleaning supplies away, the oven drawer cleaned to put away the pots and pans and half our plates cleaned. I also cleaned half the cooking utensils so we had something to stir and flip our food with. It wasn't until I was in the middle of making dinner that I realized I needed my measuring cup... which was still packed. Thankfully I was able to quickly find it without burning dinner. And we still ended up using paper plates and plastic forks. The paper plates were used because Jason figured why dirty a dish we just washed - ok, I was fine with that, but the plastic forks... well that was because the silverware is still packed! We'll give it another try tonight and maybe tonight will go a little smoother than last night.
I finally managed to get all the photos loaded to the computer, now I just have to upload them to flicker so everyone can see our new place. As new projects get done and rooms get unpacked I'm hoping to start posting before and afters. So check back soon for updates!
