To keep it in the family?
After recently receiving a membership to Phipps Conservatory as a gift from Dad K (thanks again!) this past thanksgiving, we've been making many trips over there. I mostly go to take some new photos, and the few times Jason has come along its mostly to be my photo assistant... the one who carries my stuff.
After our last trip and going through all the photos I took and only sort of liking about 2 of them, I decided it was about time to look into finally getting a macro lens. So I started doing a little research and 2 lenses have been recommended as good macro lenses. One of them is the Sigma 50mm F2.8 and the other is the Tamron 90mm F2.8. I have no experience with either brand and I've yet to find anything that specifically states it will work with my camera, a Canon. I went to Canons website to find their macro lenses and of course they cost a bit more than the other 2 so its a matter of deciding if I want to play it safe and stick with a Canon or go outside of the Canon family. I have heard many good things about Sigma lenses and its within a decent price range. I think my next step is to find a camera store and hope they possibly have one in stock so I can actually see that it will work with my camera.
I'm thinking I may have to check out my usual stores next time we're back in MI. Until then, I'll continue my quest online.
