Happy 4th!
For the last few years our typical 4th of July hasn't really involved much, no big parties or picnics. In fact last year I don't think we did anything except watch the fireworks at night. While in our old apartment, we had a great view of the South Hills fireworks from the front of our complex. They were set off at the mall and because we sat up on the hill we were able to just sit out front and watch them. We heard from many people that the SH fireworks were just as good as the ones downtown, so instead of dealing with the massive crowds downtown we always stayed close to home.
This year was different. We were in a whole new apartment and a fairly new area. We found out they were setting off their own local fireworks down at the park, which is just a short walk down from our place. So after a day of stripping paint and sanding we were invited to walk down with our downstairs neighbors.
The fireworks were ok. They didn't have any of the nice big ones that fill the sky... which I was a little disappointed by, but Jason didn't seem to care. Apparently to him, all fireworks are the same and he could care less if he saw them at all. hahaha.
There was no wind that night so all the smoke just sat in the same spot making it hard to see some of the fire works. They would shoot off a bunch of the same color which was sort of cool because then the whole sky was that color. In the pic below the whole sky was pink.
The pic is pretty dark... so its hard to see who's in the photo, but that's Jason in the top right corner, and then in front of him is Justin and Lasha and then the many people sitting in front of them. We forgot to bring down chairs so we just sat along the curb, hehe.
Overall it was a fun night. It was nice to be able to just walk down to the park. Although the walk back was mostly uphill... that wasn't too fun! haha.
