My hike to Thai land
Due to my new schedule at work, I now get off around 11am on Fridays. Most Fridays I just go home and chill, but this past Friday.... well I decided to go and get lunch for Jason and I. Theres a place called Thai me up down on the south side that we LOVE. In the past, I've just hopped on the bus, walked a few blocks to pick it up and then take the bus back into town. Well now with our month of driving and parking just outside of downtown, the bus wasn't much of an option.
Normally I would just walk across the Smithfeild St. bridge (happens to be the street that my work is on, so its very convienent) But yestuday I didn't have the keys to the car, so I had to go to get them from Jason. Jason's work happens to be next to the Liberty bridge, which is closer to where the car is parked, but its not the bridge that most people walk across, in fact, I didn't even know there was a sidewalk to walk along. When Jason pointed out the stairs to get up to the bridge I decided to give it a shot! It wasn't until I walked up the 2 flights of stairs and was almost to the bridge did I think, what if there are no stairs at the end of the bridge?? How will I get down to my car (the car is parked on Carson st. under the bridge) Well by this time, it was either turn around and walk an extra mile or two, or to just give it a shot and see what happens. The adventurous side of me took over (which doesn't very often!) and I went for it.
The picture below is about 1/3 of the way across the bridge.... I still had a long way to go!This is my view of downtown from the Liberty bridge. The building right in front of the black bridge is where Jason works. I'm currently probably high enough to be on the 5th floor of his building.... much higher than the other bridge I normally walk across!
When I finally get across the bridge, thankfully I notice the stairs to go down - my other option was to walk down the road with no sidewalk.... which is not what I wanted to do! So it was another 2 flights of stairs... at least this time it was going down.
From here it was all down hill.... literally! haha. It was a giant hill down to Carson street and then a bit of backtracking to get to the car. But I finally made it. Once in the car it was a matter of minutes before I was able to find a parking spot right in front of Thai Me Up. After placing my order, waiting and then receiving my order, it was back to Jason... this time though I didn't have to walk the bridge or anything, it was all in the car! So much faster!! I finally made it home to enjoy my spicy fried rice and chicken... it was delish! Definitely worth the hike!
